Home and Ahead

Home is where our primordial world initiates to build upon. Home is where our final refuge lies. Home and Ahead is a journey of exploration to rediscover our homes in Calcutta amid the once illustrious houses in their dwindling, fading fate through a journeying soul of endless dreams.

Inspired by the countless walks that I took inside the lanes and by-lanes of my beloved city, I had written this film as a poetic approach to look at the crisis. A dilapidated mansion and its many memories of loving her soul through endless longing shaped my thoughts to a creative world of finding freedom from the cocooned behaviour. I have attempted to stare boldly and symbolically through the metaphors that influence my thoughts on celluloid. The genius that is composed by the brilliance of these houses has carried our era in unparalleled artistry. Growing up in Calcutta appeared like a blessing where I could walk myself through a journey of treasure finding almost every-day. I have catalysed a close look at the heroic daily struggles of the city from the inside out. Using an apt sound design and theme-driven music as an accompaniment, I have tried to look at what is otherwise addressed as a decay to forbid and move ahead. My journey analyses the temptation of such homes and their mysterious characters that feature through many dreamy narratives that you may take out from the film.
